MTG Event is a small, independently run tool for hosting Magic: The Gathering leagues. It has two parts: an Android app that organizers use to run events, and this website, where players can follow standings and results. This page explains what information is involved and what happens to it. The short version: we only keep what’s needed to run your league, we don’t sell or share it, and there are no ads, analytics or trackers.
Who this applies to
- Organizers – people who sign in to the app to run or co-host a league.
- Players – people whose names and results are entered by an organizer. Players don’t have accounts.
- Website visitors – anyone viewing a league page.
What we collect
Organizer accounts
- Your name and email address.
- Your password, stored only as a one-way hash. We can’t see or recover it.
- For each phone you sign in on: a device label (for example “Brian (k3f9)”) and when it was last used. This is how the app shows which phone is running an event.
League information entered by organizers
- League name and web address, events, pairings, match results, season settings, invite codes, and any pre-app (“legacy”) totals an organizer imports.
- Player names exactly as the organizer types them. These can be first names or nicknames; we never ask for a player’s contact details.
Security records
- When someone enters a wrong password or invalid invite code, we record the IP address and time so we can block password-guessing. These records are deleted automatically after 24 hours.
- Our hosting provider keeps standard web server logs (such as IP address, page requested and time), as almost every website does.
What we don’t collect
- No cookies, analytics, advertising IDs, location, contacts or payment information.
- The website doesn’t store anything in your browser and loads nothing from third parties.
- The app’s round-timer alarms are scheduled on the phone itself; no push-notification service is involved.
Where your data lives
The app saves everything on the organizer’s phone first, so it works without internet. If an organizer signs in and connects to a shared league, the league’s information is also stored on our server, which runs on a web hosting provider (GoDaddy) in the United States. Connections to the server are encrypted (HTTPS).
Who can see what
- Public league pages show the league name, player names, pairings, results, standings and player stats. The league owner can switch a league to private, which hides its page.
- Organizers in the same league can see each other’s name and email in the app’s member list.
- Organizer emails are never shown publicly.
- We don’t sell, rent or share personal information with anyone, and we don’t use it for advertising. We would only disclose information if required by law.
How long we keep it
- Organizer accounts: until you delete your account.
- League information: until an organizer deletes it, or the league itself is deleted.
- Failed sign-in records: 24 hours.
Deleting your account
Organizers can delete their account at any time, either in the app (Settings → Shared league → Delete my account) or on the delete account page, without needing the app. Deletion is immediate and permanent:
- Your name, email, password and sign-ins are deleted, and you’re removed from every league.
- Leagues you own are handed to the longest-standing co-host. If a league has no other organizers, the league and all of its information are deleted.
- Data saved on your own phone stays there until you remove it (Settings → Reset everything, or uninstalling the app).
For players
If you’d like your name changed or removed from a league, ask the league’s organizer. They can rename or delete players in the app, and changes appear on the website within a minute. You can also contact us using the details below.
Children
Organizer accounts are for adults. The service isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly create accounts for them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
